Ethical Trade Specialist
- Location: London
- Closing Date: 10/06/2016
Carnstone Partners LLP is a management consultancy specialising in corporate responsibility and sustainability. We work with many of the world’s leading companies, across all sectors, helping them to identify, analyse and tackle major challenges.
We are recruiting an exceptional individual for a one-year secondment to the Ethical Trading team within the Food Group of a well-known high street retailer, known for its leadership on ethical trade and sustainability. The retailer is accelerating their ‘beyond audit’ ethical strategy, to drive better outcomes for workers and help build more resilient supplier partners.
This exciting opportunity will come with the following responsibilities:
Lead the roll-out of the Food Group’s award-winning ‘beyond audit’ ethical framework – assessing suppliers’ performance against the framework and coaching suppliers to improve their performance;
Contribute strongly to the ethical trade programme, for example developing tools for suppliers, contributing to supplier ethical and HR (human resource) forums, coaching internal teams on the ‘beyond ethical’ approach; and
- Spend time within the supply base, visiting suppliers as well as regular phone contact. Candidates should expect to spend approx. 2 days per week with suppliers (some European travel requirement but mainly within the UK).
We are keen to attract candidates with a desire to break new grounds in responsible supply chain management, partnerships and capacity building. Specifically, we are looking for someone with a good understanding of ethical trade, HR, and the ‘beyond audit’ agenda. Candidates must have practical experience of suppliers and manufacturing sites, with experience in the food industry and of HR management highly desirable.
The opportunity is a full-time position, based in central London with some travel (as above). However, for the right candidate, we are open to discussing more flexible arrangements.
Employment will be with Carnstone, but the candidate will report into the retailer’s Ethical Trading Manager during the one-year secondment, and be embedded within the retailer team.
To apply, please send a cover letter and CV to Jacqui Boardman at[email protected] by Friday 10th June 2016.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held on the 20th and 21st June 2016 at Carnstone’s London office.
