  • Salary: $15 an hour
  • Contract Type: 4 days per week, August to October 2016

Job purpose:

To support the Resource Centre’s work encouraging greater respect of human rights by business in the Middle East region, and a project on migrant workers in construction in the Arabian Gulf.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Set up systems for web-based and social media monitoring in English and Arabic
  • Monitor and collate news on business & human rights issues in the Middle East region, including Gulf migrant workers issues and construction projects, in English and Arabic
  • Input news into the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre website in English and Arabic
  • Share news on English and Arabic social media channels
  • Design and create content for monthly e-newsletter on business & human rights in Arabic
  • Develop an initial list of contacts to invite to sign up for the e-newsletter
  • Draft and/or translate text to Arabic for website
  • Identify contextual trends and thematic information to communicate to project managers
  • Support preparation for the Centre’s “Mary Robinson Speaker Series” event in September



  • Fluent in English and Arabic, with strong writing and communications skills in both
  • Demonstrated experience of using social media platforms (Twitter and Facebook) for information sharing, discussion, and network development
  • Demonstrated experience developing and inputting website content
  • Understanding and/or interest in the issues surrounding human rights and migrant workers in the Middle East Gulf region


  • Previous experience working on website development
  • Graphic design/data visualisation skills
